_builder_version=&#8221;4.7.5&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h4>NJCU has implemented the following several initiatives that have reduced the University\u2019s energy footprint:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Solar<\/strong> \u2013 NJCU has installed dusk to dawn solar-powered lighting on the outside of the Gilligan Student Union patio covering 19,000 sq. ft.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>LED Lighting<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 NJCU has been converting lighting to LED. All replacement bulbs are being ordered LED.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Building Management System (BMS)<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 All campus buildings are connected to an Andover BMS that enables remote operation of the HVAC systems. The BMS has been used to implement energy efficiency controls measures such as scheduling, temperature reset and economizer control. Equipment are set to an \u201cunoccupied energy-saving mode\u201d for overnight and on holidays.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Occupancy Sensors<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 Many classrooms and hallways contain occupancy or motion sensors for lighting.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Computer Power-saving Mode<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 The majority of campus computers labs are scheduled to automatically enter a power saving mode each night.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Exterior Lighting<\/strong> \u2013 Dusk to dawn lighting fixtures on campus are triggered on and off by the amount of light reaching the sensor, resulting in energy savings, longer life, and low maintenance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reflective Roof<\/strong> \u2013 The Student Union and Rossey Hall buildings feature a reflective cap sheet roof that reflects solar radiation and disperses heat energy away from the buildings, keeping the interior cool.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong style=\"margin-top: 15px !important; display: block; margin-bottom: 0px; font-size: 120% !important;\">On-going Efforts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Energy Efficiency<\/strong> \u2013 NJCU continues to reduce emissions by upgrading HVAC equipment and lighting, recommissioning equipment, and installing automated controls.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong style=\"margin-top: 15px !important; display: block; margin-bottom: 15px; font-size: 120% !important;\">Combined Heating, Cooling and Power Plant and Energy Distribution Systems Upgrades<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 15px; font-size: 120% !important; font-weight: normal;\"><em><strong>The scope of the project will include:<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>The installation of electricity, hot water and chilled water equipment.<\/li>\n<li>The installation of new underground hot water and chilled water piping throughout the campus with possible expansion to Visual Arts Building and the John J.
