Sustainability @ New Jersey City University
Dr. Aaron Aska, Vice President and COO – Operations & Innovation

chemistry-journal-imageSince 2003 Chemistry students are introduced to smaller scale (mini-scale) experiments as part of a Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) which resulted in the use of less hazardous chemicals, students’ safety and environmental awareness, and a huge reduction of chemical usage and waste generation by 65% and 90%, respectively. As a result, NJCU received the Environmental Stewardship certificate for environmental policy from NJDEP in 2014. As part of NJCU international research collaboration and global outreach program, lessons learned from over 10 years of SEP were successfully applied in University of San Agustin in central Philippines during a USAID STRIDE funded visit of two Chemistry Department faculty members in early September 2016.
